Would it make sense to use union inany_addr for the output?  That
would also let you reuse inany_pton().

Complicated way of doing a strncpy.  But more to the point, I don't
think we need to copy the argument - we already add \0s in place in
conf_ports(), so I think it's fine to do it here too.
